Well i am wondering wheather or not i should get a 5gb ipod on ebay. It would be the old style ones with the wheel. IS there any big diffrence between the old ipods and the new ones? I was also noticing that there is a firewire problem with the ipods.Ive seen alot of ppl complain about this. Since i am getting it on ebay i dont want after a week it to die then what am i ganna do? Help me out give me that bad and goods about having an ipod. Thanks all.

i've got the exact ipod you're explaining and the only bad part is that the wheel doesn't feel as smooth as it used to. it grinds a little sometimes, but it still works fine. i think i have sand in it, actually. it's also quite scratched. other than that, it works better than when i got it (thanks to firmware updates!).

I think i heard that if i charge my ipod then a week later want to use it will the batteries drain at all. I hope not. Everyone please i want to hear your feedback on ur ipods. Make me a even happier mac user.

The wheel feels a bit scratchy, that's not good. However, I've tried the new wheels, the touch-sensitive thingys...didn't like them at all, mine just feels more natural.
Other than that and some software glitches it works fine.

How bout that battery issue is that true? if so why?

Is the question if ipod batteries will remain charged for weeks once they are charged?

It seems that in the newest ipod software (1.2?), the batteries will drain even if the ipod isn't used regularly because of the internal clock that is always running. Mine will drain its battery if it isn't charged for about a week -- this didn't seem to be the case with the 1.1. software, so I'm kind of guessing it has something to do with the clock in 1.2.

I've had several mp3 players, and the ipod is far and away the best of the group.
