iPod Software Updater?

Is it out yet? Or did Apple just announce it at the keynote? Or are they not updating the firmware on existing iPods?
 
I too am waiting for this and fear the worst, I'm afraid. Might have to make my iPod look broken and take it in to CompUSA and cash in on my one-time replacement :D

Maybe I'll wait 'til my two years is up. Who knows what will be available then?
 
Well, I think I actually got lucky, in a way.

For the past few weeks, my iPod has been getting 5 hour battery life. It seems that this is a relatively common problem, because I took it in to the Palo Alto Apple Store, and after doing a battery reset (which didn't solve the problem), they are replacing my iPod free of charge even though it is out of warrantee.

Looks like I might have to wait a few weeks for another iPod. Maybe I could use this as leverage for them to upgrade me to a 10 gig iPod. :D :D :D
 
Til now, my iPod 5GB working without any probelm... I bought it in Dec 01 with an Apple stuff discount. It was only $256... Still far cheaper than $299! :) I am gonna to get a remote control but dunno when will it arrive the stores in Hong Kong...
 
i hope apple doesnt screw us again (.mac) and make those new features only available on the new 10 n 20gb ipods :(

I don't see how this update couldn't work on 5 and 10gigs.

It will work for all (cross fingers)
