iPod syncing error

I keep getting this error every time I hit the Hotsync button on my iPod's cradle:

"Error -493: Please put a Palm compatible device in the cradle to sync with your computer."

I KNOW that my iPod is a Palm compatible device. I've tried to reinstall the software many times too, and I've called Apple tech support. Anybody know what's wrong? It's driving me crazy.

Wha....?

The iPod is a music device. It does not have a cradle. You connect it to your Mac with a FireWire cable. If you have a PalmOS device, you put that in your Palm docking cradle and push the HotSync button.


What exactly are you doing?
