ipod, USB2 - makes no sense

If you are a windows user and have only USB2 you still need a firewire card to charge your ipod.

From Apple's site:
USB 2.0 + FireWire Cable (for PC)
For Windows users, the Dock Connector to USB 2.0 + FireWire cable is available for syncing via USB 2.0* and charging via FireWire.

Why even go USB2 if firewire is still needed?

The firewire plug goes into an AC adapter in the wall. The AC adapter comes with all iPods.
Please post in the correct forums.

Most PC firewire ports are only 4 pin (missing the 2 that allow the bus to power devices) so you would just charge the iPod from the AC adaptor, nothing new there. Adding USB 2 makes the iPod more widely compatible for different PCs, it has nothing to do with power.

I thought I've heard Steve Jobs say that the power that USB2 delivers was enough. But I guess (from reading your posts) I'm wrong...

Those people should just get one of those cheap Firewire cards available. Most of them actually are 6-port Firewire cards that do lead power, too.

Yeah, he actually said it wasn't enough to power the iPod
