No, no!:D
I didn't make it!

John Huber...

I think the computer is the beige G3 desktop, painted blue LoL

Ok, I'll let you off the hook. :)

Aside from the poor paint job on the machine, this really is a pretty decent idea. I wonder, though... What if Apple, on their next iPod (iPod II?) puts the FW port on the bottom of the unit, facilitating a "drop-in" charger/dock-type thing. I think that'd be pretty slick. Just a thought....

kenny, that wasn't a peecee, it was a G3 beige with a HP cd-rom painted blue...
And it wouldn't surprise me if Apple made a drop-in that would let the iPod to go in top first...they are known to innovate

Yeah, once julguribye mentioned it, I went back and looked was able to see that it was a beige G3 box at one time. Crappy paintjobs are not something you usually see on Macs; I was distracted by the horrible blue.. :)

The issue I see with a top-first drop-in charger/dock is that you'd have to put the pod in upside-down. I'm no Jonathan Ive, but that just feels very wrong to me from a design perspective. I've quickly sketched something that might work (again, no J.I. :) ), but I'd be concerned that it'd be too expensive to build and market.

(FWIW, I release all claims on the design illustrated in the attached file. Apple, or any other third-party, may use this design, or not, as they see fit. I promise not to seek compensation, damages or any other recognition of my authoring of this design. Knock yourselves out.)

I'd really like to see someone make something like this to eliminate the cable that is constantly on my desk, ready to plug in the iPod...
