Irregular IP - Simple Question

I have just upgraded a network of 7 Macs to Panther.
Got all of them networked fine, and 6 of them connected to the internet.
However, one of them appears to have an irregular IP address. All the other computers are 10.0.0.1 etc, but this one computer always seems to be assigned 169.***.***.***. The subnet on this computer also seems to be incorrect, and no router address ever appears.
I have tried manually assigning an IP, subnet and router address with no luck.

The 6 computer I have working detected the settings fine. Didn't have to make any changes to them. The computers are connected to a hub which is connected to an DSL router.

Any ideas?

the 169.***.***.*** IP is a default IP that the computer gives itself when it does not get a response from the DHCP server. Double check to make sure the machine is not connected to the hub on an uplink port. Also ping your loopback address (127.0.0.1) to verify that your network adapter is working properly. Check your ethernet cable also to rule out a bad cable. Also try to ping another machine after you manually enter your address and subnet. I would start with these troubleshooting methods before digging deeper into the problem.
