Is it so wrong?!

I'm thinking about making my own small little comic to feature on my website and maybe show off to a few friends at school. I was looking into styles that I really like, but the only thing that stuck out in my head was the Invader Zim cartoon style.

So I'm wondering: if I use the same style as the cartoon Invader Zim (but not the same characters, plot, or whatever) is that Ok? Will people still be interested and will I get away legally clean?

DOOM!

Of course. If it's your own work, and your own effort and ideas, then it shouldn't matter if you've looked towards other artists for inspiration.

I, too, am working on a web comic at the moment, and I have been studying japanese manga style. It is not as easy as it looks. :p

Good luck, Trip.

Sometimes I find that when I'm trying to duplicate another artist's style, I end up twisting it in my own way unintentionally, and it's not their style anymore. Try it, see what happens!

Trip! Follow your heart. And the most important thing for an artist (in my opinion) is instinct. Try to learn to trust your instincts when you are creating... it is like the "Force" for creative people...
