I have two offices in neighboring cities which I want to connect together as one secure WAN (p2PP?). All computers in both offices are W98se (for the forseeable future anyways). I looked into W2k server, but it's gonna cost at least 2-3K (CAD) to install and setup. I figured I can get a used G3 or G4, install OSX server on it as a means to create a secure WAN, and allow both offices to work together, for $1500 to $2000 (CAD).
Will this work? Will all W98 computers be able to see each other and interact as they do now over tcp/ip networking protocols (except as one network instead of two)? The main reason to do this is to integrate accounting of both offices together, so all invoicing is done real-time through one accounting database. I really dont' want to go with W2k server, it Mac OSX will do the job.
Please advise...
