Hello! I know this is an outdated issue but has anyone ever found a relatively inexpensive better solution to the microphone input other than the IMIC Griffin adapter? I do not want to get one of these as they only last a short time and have very low signal to noise ratio. I would prefer to purchase a sound card. I am currently unemployed and trying to strike out on a different career path so funds are little bit of a concern. I am asking for assistance in locating a sound card alternative.

I would like to have user interface for level control etc.. Here is what I have to work with. Let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you for your advice.
