I found the following news article quite interesting. The specs listed for the Itanium 2 seem quite like those listed for the current G4 processors used in XServe. 1 GHz, 1 to 3MB L3 cache. Please read the article and let me know what you think...

I have used both the original Itanium processor and an assortment of G4 based systems for complex mathematics, and have found the AltiVec based G4 to live up the promises made by AIM.
NOTE:
This is my first new thread on macosx.com. I searched current postings for some of the relevant keywords in an effort to avoid creating a redundant thread. I know that there are already several threads discussing the MHz myth, but this did seem to be a unique topic.
