itunes and fast user switching

[I think this may have been posted before, so apologies if it has]

Why does itunes only allow one user to use it at a time?
I found out whilst searching the Apple support site that it is the same on the windows version. But why exactly?
Does it have something to do with the store, it can't be something system specific, unless it causes a conflict on both systems, perhaps not the same conflict?

probably has a lot to do with the store and the authentication that goes on there. it probably also has to do with rendezvous and personal music sharing.

Send a bug report in to Apple about this. If they get enough, maybe they'll make a change.
