iTunes and Remote Music Files

Hello there. I am a bit of an Apple newbie, so forgive me if the answer to this should be obvious.

I have all my music files stored on one central network server in my house. Most media players simply let me open said remote files over the network and play them, never transferring them (permenantly, at least) to my computer. However, iTunes seems to want to transfer all the files I open with it to the computer I am on, creating unnecessary mirrioring of music over my home network.

Does anyone know how I can modify the behavior of iTunes so that I can play files from my network server and leave them there?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide,

Under the iTunes preferences and in the advanced tab there should be an option labeled "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library"...If you uncheck that....you should be all ready to rock ;)

Gee ... I feel silly now. It was hidden in plain sight.

That worked. Thank you very much for the help.
