iTunes Dies!

everytime i open itunes it dies within seconds with an unexpectadley quit dialog box! whats wrong? is anybody else having this problem? it started today.... i've already trashed itunes and redownloaded 4.7.1. any ideas folks?

Try trashing the iTunes preference file;

com.apple.iTunes.plist

Trash your iTunes plist (have iTunes quit first). Repair permissions.

god that was quick! nope didn't work. except now i've probably lost all of my playlists. any other ideas? is anybody else having this problem?

Delete iTunes again, its plists again, and download iTunes 4.7 - not 4.7.1. Can you repeat the issue (hope not) in 4.7 too?

you playlist should be ok. it is stored in another file.

cheers guys. i went all out - i got a dp G5 1.8, 1GB ram, firewire 80GB hdd adding to the 80gb inside, the radeon going to the 20" cinema display and a 40GB ipod. oh and yesterday i got a digitalixus 30 - god i love that thing already - iphoto just makes it so easy. i'm a graphics student so i wanted something decent to last me a bit - can't wait for tiger either, you can just see already the things you do at the moment getting so much quicker and easier.... ps how do you edit your profile to add signatures and images etc?

i've been using macs since 1985 and the closest i have ever come to have the "speediest out there" is my Mac Plus that my father tricked out with 4 mb ram (1985).
just click on the "User CP"-button. it is located high up to the left somewhere.

ARRRGGH!! it's started doing it again - it seems to be every time i shut down...(that'd be once a month then, usually - this time i was organising cable detritus at the back of it). it bounces once in the dock, then the arrow disappears as soon as it appears and a message asking me to submit a bug reprt to apple comes up. iTunes has unexpectadley quit. i need itunes so much!!! i can't go back to cds now. 10,820 songs......

Check your Startup Items from Accounts Preferences, see if you have iTunes Helper on your list. Made my system go haywire until I removed it from Startup.
