iTunes error - not letting me import

OK this is what happened - Was importing songs into iTunes. Then decided it would be a good idea to clean up my library so I filtered by "Date added" and cleared all of the files that were previously in my library that I didn't need to work with anymore. Well I guess it wasn't such a good idea, because from this point on I wasn't able to import ANY FILES AT ALL. I would get the following error msg "The file "..." could not be imported An unknown error has occured (-50)" I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and then rebooted my computer and I am still getting this same error. I don't know what else to do! It's driving me bonkers.. Someone please help! It really sucks having a brand new iPod and not being able to add songs to id :(

Are you running iTunes for Mac or Windows? If its for Mac, I'd suggest deleting your iTunes library files, which can be found in (home)/Music, and your iTunes preference file, which is found in (home)/Library/Preferences and is named something like com.apple.itunes.plist.

Windows would differ, though, so let us know which you're running on.
