iTunes not responding since iPod software update

I have an iBook G4, 10.3.9

I just ran the latest iPod software update because my iPod wasn't able to receive the latest songs I had purchased from the Music Store. Since I performed the update, my iTunes won't open. I click on the icon, it shows that it's open and not responding, and when I force quit it leaves the force quit window and then reappears when I force quit again. I ran Disk Utility and Repaired Permissions for my hard drive but there was no difference. Any suggestions so I can get my iTunes to work again? Thanks!


Update: After letting my computer sit for about an hour or two iTunes no longer was open. I forgot to mention I had deleted every .plist for iTunes and so when I reopened it, it was asked for preferences and settings. But it appears to be working. Still, does anyone have any idea what the iPod software update is doing?
