iTunes sees previously named/synced iPod as new, not synced

I've been syncing two iPods on my Mac (OS 10.5.8, iTunes 10) for a year now, and just yesterday, I went to sync one and iTunes just mounted it as 'iPod Touch' instead of it's actual name ("Bigger iPod"). I went to check the syncing options and it's treating the iPod as if it's brand new to the system and wants to overwrite all the data during a sync.

The only thing I can think of is that recently, the iPod crashed and needed a long charge and a hard reboot to get started again. It works fine now, it just doesn't register in iTunes as the device that has been syncing for a year.

The other iPod I use syncs fine.

Any thoughts, suggestions on how to get iTunes to re-recognize my device so I won't have to completely overwrite everything and then re-sync with all my preferred apps and music, etc.?

Thanks so much and Happy Holidays!
