iTunes Store - in Japan, buy in US?

Hello,

I got a iTunes store gift certificate from a friend for my birthday! Yay!

But, the certificate can only be used in the US iTunes store. I live in Japan and have the Japanese version of iTunes. I have never used the iTunes store before.

When I go to register a new account in iTunes, it doesn't allow to me to change the country to the USA.

Is there anyway I can use this certificate from my PC?

Thanks for any help!

If you have a billing address & credit card in the US then you can use that to set up an account on the US iTunes store. There isn't really any way around this, though, but perhaps you could exchange the gift card for a Japan iTunes store gift card.

Yes, create a new user if needed for iTunes store with a US billing address (a friends will do if you only use gift card) then just enter the gift card certificate and it should work. :)
I needed to create an Irish user for one song credit that could not be transferred or exchanged to US store..
