A few weeks ago, my external HD was wiped. Among the lost data was my entire iTunes library. The actual library file and .xml were not lost, but all my mp3s were. After many attempts, I was finally able to successfully restore the iTunes media folder, in its complete folder structure, from the external HD. However, iTunes refuses to accept the new folder as a media folder, and won't find all of the files.
Some songs are recognized by iTunes, but the majority are still "dead". A song will be found in an album, but another song in that same album (thus in the same folder) will be missing. My library is about 40 GB in size, and the majority of songs are in at least one playlist or more.
I have tried editing the .xml by find+replace, but no luck. Is there any way to efficiently re-add the files to the library, without having to recreate my playlists?
Thanks!
Ross
