Man, this weekend was up and down with glee and dispair.
1. Core installs went smoothly, application reinstalls PIA as always. (I went full clean).
2. Strange bug arrives where Restart just hangs the box. Later it goes away. huh?
3. Mac to Windows connectivity works flawlessly. Joyous.
4. PC to Mac connectivity doesn't work. Then I figure a few things out and it works. Then it doesn't work again. After many hours of dicking around, I discover a bug in which the root admin account on file server needs to have the "Allow Windows box to login" option turned off and back on again to "clear" the setting. Also, it took me forever to figure out that you can, in fact, change the root/admin account to allow Windows login by entering your PW and hitting return to remove the grayed out restriction (Accounts prefs). Boy did I feel silly.
5. Printer doesn't freaking print! Jag ses it, processing the file, doesn't print. Me angry. Nuther user point out an update on version tracker for printer (why the hell this isn't in Jag is beyond me). It works!!!
So, it didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped, but in the end everything works great. PC/Mac connectivity alone is worth the price. It cleared up a lot of problems we were having with PC/MacLan.
GO JAG!!!
