Jaguar performance and reformat install

I initially installed Jaguar as an upgrade on my G3 500 iBook (640mb ram), preserving my Classic environment and apps. Though I noticed some performance improvement, I did not find the changes to be significant, overall. Today I decided to reinstall with a clean formatted disk, and I noticed an appreciable performance improvement, esp in Mail, Address Book, Terminal, BBEdit 6.5, FileMaker Pro 5.5, and the new Search app is really very quick, and thorough. A few other Cocoa apps are now very quick. All in all, I would have to conclude that a reformat install of 10.2 is advisable, assuming the Classic apps can be disposed of.

Anybody else try this?
