Jaguar. What critical files should I backup often?

Hi,

I had to reformat hard drive, and lost some files/settings I "thought" I had saved to CD-R. Important files it appears.

Using Jaguar, WHAT folders and/or files should I backup to keep critical settings for apps, the OS, etc?

for example, I lost tons of great bookmarks for explorer.

If you back up the /Users directory, you will have the vast majority of "critical" files. That's where the Explorer bookmarks are kept.
Of course, if you've added stuff like startup items to /Library, you should back them up as well.
