Just to say hello

toast

Gone !
Hello everyone, I'm just back from Greece (Athens, Naxos, Tinos, Paros, Santorini), wonderful, now in London, having wicked time except the stupid English weather.

I read newspapers every day. Blackout in US, hot times in France, Kellygate in UK... and just sun in Greece :p

See you in Sept. ! Apple Expo crew, feed my francoisbriatte-at-yahoo-dot-fr mailbox with all capital info. I'll have a friend working at the Final Cut stand (he works for Apple Europe this summer) during the expo, BTW, he may be able to open some doors for us, who knows...

Toast

Heya Toast! It's good to hear that there are someplaces in the world where total chaos hasn't errupted...yet. ;)

I was just about to start a "welcome back" thread

Glad to hear you had fun! My English vocabulary isn't broad enough to say much more than that :D

Personal note: I'm afraid we have to push the Apple PR people a little more. Feel for doing another call?

I hope I get my access badges soon btw :p

LoveSan was in all French newspapers. Blaster contaminated 50% of my PC friends, they've been sending mails to tell me not to click this, not to do that, plus asking for advice. I've sent a link to the Apple Expo website to all of them. :p

ksv >> No prob for calling back, but for the moment:
- I'm in England
- I have no physical address in France (as I'm moving)
- I have no phone, neither static or mobile
- I just have a temp Yahoo! email
- that's what I call a pretty precarious situation :D

I'll be able to call Apple Expo end of first week of Sept, according to my best (read: over-optimistic) estimations. I'll mail you.

LOL...

Hulk: only temporarily.

Toast: I've missed your posts! You are such a big part of this forum, and not having you here has been like not having a member of my family here.

I must admit, a hardline leftist opinion really has been missing from the threads around here lately. Good to have you back to go against every word I say - and I mean that with the utmost possible admiration and respect.

I missed the forum too, I'm a complete addict to this place. I'll be back as soon as possible, I need this Cafe, esp. in the morning. See you soon !

How long will you be able to get online and come here, how long will you be away, and will you see Metallica? If you do, tell them that St. Anger (the song) sucks, though the other stuff from St. Anger (the CD) is pretty cool.

- I'm in England

You're traveling from festival to festival, eh? I wonder if Peter Gabriel will show up at the Paris Expo :D

- I have no phone, neither static or mobile

You're better than me :p

- I just have a temp Yahoo! email

I'll set up an @urbanturban.no account with webmail access if you want it ;)

Okay, if we don't get those press passes in time, I guess we can talk to some real people at the expo. That's always better.

I agree with you, Arden, the song in itself is pretty lame, but the album is quite a honourable attempt to go back to the basics. In fact, I like this album in a reasonable measure - you know, when a singer goes through disintoxication cures and then tries to sing like he did aged 14, you still hear a difference.

I can get online on this 56k modem my friend is lending me. It's a Windows XP machine here (yuck). I'm away till September and I surely WILL see Metallica, as well as Sum 41, Primal Scream (remeber "Swastika Eyes" remix by the Chemical Brothers ? That's Primal Scream) and, last but not least, Squarepusher. Those people who like drum and bass know him, he's the dnb Aphex Twin. I'm so impatient - my train sets off in a few hours.

ksv > I'll soon get a new mail, plus, I'm buying a .com name very soon. Thx for generous offer, however :)

I am, indeed, travelling from festival. I don't take drugs, I don't have a mobile phone, I don't eat in fastfoods, hence I easily save a bit of money every month to go to summer festivals.

Example: I spent yesterday night at London Ministry of Sound... special Logical Progression drum and bass night... Doc Scott, Peshay, LTJ Bukem, MC Dynamite, usw... :p Tonight is Metallica night, and tomorrow night will be Notting Hill Carnival night.

Hey UK people, London is wicked, soundsystems are FAT, Red Bull is okay and weather is almost sunny ! Did I say that ?

Take care --

Frantic, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tock; frantic, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick tock! Etc...

Sorry, toast.com is taken, though I'm not sure by what. Hehe...

Have fun, and put little bits of tissue in your ears. I find that this makes the loud rock music plenty enjoyable, but it cuts down on the frequencies that damage your hearing; after a concert, my ears ring for maybe the rest of the day if I do this, whereas if I don't they'll ring for days on end. And they're better than earplugs because they don't reduce the volume significantly.

Just woke up, what a night, what a night...

The Ecstasy of Gold - Battery - Master of Puppets (all in a row) - Harvester of Sorrow - Welcome (Sanatorium) - Sad but True - No Remorse - Seek and Destroy - Blackened - Nothing Else Matters - Fuel - One - Enter Sandman (list is incomplete and not that ordered)

Extremely powerful show, full of flames and special pyro FX, a bit like Rammstein, extremely enjoyable. Sound was just okay, not too loud, just enough, no protection required. One fo the best hard music show I ever saw.

Special announcement: I don't if this info has leaked already, but yesterday, Lars Ullrich ended the show on those words: "Christmas present in advance, people: December 20, Earl's Court, see ya !" This *may* be some exclusive info, and this forum is the first place to know it ;)

PS: never try to take your girlfriend on your shoulders more than one song every 30minutes :D

Oh, toast.com used to be a free webmail service. The interface was entirely in Flash, I remember. I'm buying another domain, I'll let you know.

BTW, just before Metallica, saw Aphrodite and Squarepusher, as well as Mixologists. Wicked drum and bass.

I've only heard of Metallica and Rammstein, of those bands you listed in the last 2 posts.

I got to see Metallica locally—or, more specifically, Metallica's fully-endorsed cover band Battery—at New Year's Eve, which was awesome. It was called the Big-Ass Cover Bash, and they had Emmit Remus, who covers everything; Differential, a local growl-metal band; Hot For Teacher, a Van Halen cover band; and Battery.

So did they play anything from St. Anger?

BTW: Just noticed your new title. Interesting. Like my new profile?

They did play Frantic and St Anger (the song), just after the Kill'Em All tracks if I recall well.

'll be back on board as soon as I can, and yes Arden, this new title is only the beginning ...
