Keyboard Malfunction

So, my macBook won't type the letter "r" anymore. I every time I hit that key, it makes a kind of electric "Bonk" sound and doesn't produce anything. However, it is weird because it will type a capital "R", just not lowercase. Do you know why?

Check the keyboard layout in the keyboard settings in System Preferences. Make sure that they are set to the proper setting.
