KVM issues

Hi all,

I've recently added a powerbook to my collective but I'm having a hard time getting a working KVM switch. I've tried a 4 port linksys and a 4 port IO gear, and in both cases the keyboard and mouse for the powerbook will frequently, momentarily freeze. All other computers are fine. The other computers have PS/2 connections, the powerbook has a USB - PS/2 keyboard + PS/2 mouse connection. I would have thought this little adapter would be the problem, but apparently not -- I've been running with a PS/2 keyboard and mouse plugged into the adapter for hours without issues now. Additionally, both KVM switches exhibited the problem but in different amounts; the IO gear was much worse. So it seems to be a KVM issue.

I read somewhere that this could occur when certain cables weren't shielded enough, but in the case of the IO gear the cables are built in, and the Linksys had other problems that make it unusable anyway. So now I'm thinking of trying the Belkin switch that's both USB and PS/2. But it's expensive and I'm tired of buying KVM switches. Has anyone else had these kinds of problems? What did you do?

thanks for any help,
