i have an old lacie 6 gig scsi external hard drive... i went to the lacie home page and found they dont support mac os x... the solution they gave was to use apple disk utility to format the drive... here is the kicker... the drive does not mount at startup and disk utility does not find it so how does one resolve this prob. any help would greatly be appreciated

thx in advance

I have also tried to initialize the disk using os 9.2.2 to an hfs+ drive and also updated the driver from there... no probs with the drive using os 9.2.2 but still no dice using os x... os x simply does not recognize that the disk exists... I need help on this one... im stumped

Lacies SCSI drives do work in OS X, but your SCSI card may need newer drivers or be incompatible.

Thx bob... u were right about the scsi card.. the person who installed the scsi card failed to install under mac os x so my prob is fixed... oh and silver lining i guess is what is not supported under mac os x

My 6gig external Lacie drive uses Silver Lining and works fine in 10.2.4.

Silverlining Updater v6.4.6a
Will update previous versions of Silverlining Pro (6.x) to latest version.
Silverlining Pro is compatible with OS 8.6 - 9.x. For OS X, use Apple Disk Utility.

hehe now im really confused cause the above is from the lacie home page... but i will take your word for it since the silver lining thing apparently wasnt my prob... missing driver was... go figure eh... later bob and thx again
