Uber Nothing
I just happened to come across a website that had a really exciting demo reel of a new display and interaction technology, searched for it on YouTube, and found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp-y3ZNaCqs

Absolutely incredible. This is the type of thing that companies like Apple should put most of their focus on; make a computer that is this fluid, this easily interactive, and you've changed the market forever. I can't wait to see the next 10 years.

Discuss.

Okay, well good to bring it up to the surface again anyway. I'm certain there are some people who are still ignorant to this video.

Personally, I guess it won't really become generally available tech anytime soon on large displays. I just don't see the real use for it yet. On a tablet computer: Yes. Certainly. On the walls: Sci Fi films, yes. Real-world use: Nope. (Except niches.)

No problem, Qion. :)

I agree some people might have missed the original posts, and I do also think the videos show some amazing technology. Actually, this thread has prompted me to look for any updates from Jeff Han and co!

I don't know what you're talking about, Fryke. This would be immensely useful in graphic design, file organization (especially photos), DJ'ing, communicating with people, handwriting recognition, taking notes, collaborating with another person using the same computer, etc. etc. etc.

The usefulness of this technology is endless. Families, designers, movie producers, DJ's, school coporations, and countless others could benefit from it.

Sit down in front of a desktop machine and hold up your hands against the monitor. Try to handwrite on it. You won't want to lift your arm(s) for longer periods of time. Hence my tablet comment. You _would_ want to handle such a thing on your lap, directly on a table etc. ... But those big ones on the walls: Nice demo stuff. Not much more. Sorry. :)

You speak as if your words are ultimatum. Where are you getting the idea of a wall display? That's not the video I posted.

I was, actually, commenting on the desk design -like the video shows-.

Eh, sorry. :) (with a smiley face to make my words less arrogant)

woops. sorry. then i agree. guess i just _assumed_ this was all still about the wall-mounted stuff. my apologies...
