So here's a strange one:
I have an early 2011 MBP 15" with the 2.2 GHz Core i7 processor with OS X Lion installed, and everything was working just fine up until last Friday or so when I did some software updates.
NOW when I open my laptop, it takes several minutes for DNS to begin working for apps that use the GUI. Console applications, strangely, seem completely unaffected by this. I can use Lynx to browse or I can ping domains just fine. I can also connect to sites fine in Chrome or Safari or whatever by using their IP address. So it seems like whatever is in charge of updating the system's DNS info from the lower level services is really taking its time now.
Any hints?
