LCD montior brands

Apple certainly doesn't make their own TFT panels, so they come from one of the bigger makers. LG, Philips, Samsung, Sharp...

Apple own significant shares in the LCD makers Samsung, LG and Sharp, and typically source their displays through these manufacturers. As for *which* one it is, that may be very difficult to work out.

Well check my link it seems pretty easy, the dude found that the INTEL iMac uses the LCD unit (LG PHLIPS LM171W02).

my thoughts would be that the 17" and the 20" come from different suppliers. they are so drastically different in quality, it would be hard to imagine them coming from the same supplier. the same with the 20"/23".

i also note that dell now sells a 30" lcd requiring dual link DVI.

That's what I've heard/seen too...mainly that Samsung and LG are the two major suppliers. I'd imagine they'll use whomever has available parts if need be. Toshiba used to be a big supplier years ago.

Back in the summer of 1999 Apple invested $100 million into Samsung (who had the biggest market share...something like 20 to 25%) to help address a shortage of LCD panels. There was a press release about it at: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/1999/jul/28applesamsung.html ; but it's since died and there's no cached version at Google or Yahoo.

I'm pretty sure the 23" HD and 30" are from Samsung.

Is there a way to find out who is the manufacturer of those 2 cinema display monitors 20" & 23"? Can this information be tracked by software perhaps? How?
