I have a new Mac Pro running Leopard (10.5.3) at work. It was a replacement for a G5 running Tiger. I have a Mac Book Pro running Tiger (10.4.8) that I connect in target disk mode to the new Mac Pro. I'm having problems with permissions opening documents and saving back to the MacBook. "<DOCUMENT NAME" cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding."
Permissions for the Mac Book Pro show:
system: Read & Write
admin: Read & Write
everyone: Read only
Both machines have the same user names.
The only way I can access documents on the MacBook Pro is to copy them to Mac Pro desktop, edit them, and then copy back to the MacBook Pro. I can drag and drop the edited documents back to their original locations (replacing the original version) but can't open them from the "open" dialog in Word, Excel, and other applications. Particularly troublesome is accessing Eudora Mail. The Eudora folder is located on the MacBook Pro but when I launch on the Mac Pro, it has trouble checking mail and can't find the Eudora attachments folder.
Any help to fix this would be appreciated.
