I finally found a workaround for the bug that was killing my CPU availability with my Lexmark X73.

The Lexmark Monitor software has a recursion bug: it eats memory and CPU time. If you start a second user, the mac becomes un-usable because far too slow.

The purpose of this software is to be able to start a copy or a scan directly from the printer's button, but it does not work as it should.

The solution is the following: disable the software by changing its name.

This is how to do it: find "X73 Scan & Copy.app" in "/Application/X73 Scan and Copy". Show package content (ctrl-click to have this menu). Open Contents, then Monitor and then modify the program name "Lexmark X73 Monitor" to "Disabled Lexmark X73 Monitor". Log-out, log-in. You're done.

Have now fun with 100% of your CPU time.
