Limit on length of shared Windows folder names?

Is there a limit on how long (or the formating) of Windows shared folder names with Samba? I've noticed that when I name folders "Program Installers" or other long names with spaces that the Mac won't recognize them. However, if I were to shorten the share name to "Installers" the Mac will recognize them just fine.

yes, there is a limit. The problem lies on samba, which doesn't support too long filenames or some characters. The windows filesystem (fat32/ntfs) does support longer filenames. In short: there is nothing you can do about it for now. Does it happen with ftp too? I am not sure how much samba is involved in ftp.
