Linksys and G5

I have a Linksys wrt54g wireless router v5. for a long time it was hooked to a pc and my dell laptop (also with a linksys wireless card) worked fine and the pc was always on line without any problems. i've since bought a new G5 quad. the Linksys was reinstalled on the new Mac and since then it's a constant battle with disconnections from the internet on the Mac and of course the wireless pc. when the power is disconnected from the router and then replugged, i regain internet service in only a few seconds only to have to repeat the process over and over again. after a couple of very lengthy calls to Linksys support we have since changed a number of settings and then updated the firmware to the router. i still have problems. i just hope i can get this post typed before i'm jolted off line again. any ideas? ha! i didn't get it posted in time. i think i'll power down the router! that should do it! oh yes, i have a cable modem but it did the same before i changed from verizons dsl.
