Linksys router help

i recently got a new WRNT350N Wireless N router.

i have an intel imac (connected via ethernet), a macbook pro (connected via 802.11n) and 2 powerbook G4's (connected via 802.11G).

On my router, i have it set to a mixed signal (which should be n/g/b)
i also have it set to WEP 40 bit password protection
i have the correct password setup on all the laptops.....

the macbook pro and imac work like a charm...super fast
the 2 powerbooks are a little slow...but not too bad, however they are contantly being disconnected...and then unable to connect back to the network. i know the password is correct, im sitting next to the router...but every now and then...the connection wont work for a while. Sometimes 5 mins...sometimes an hour....

this is really frustrating...any help?

How do you have the router setup for IPs? Are all the computers sharing a single address, or is it assigning an IP for each computer?

Have you tried the Powerbooks alone? It might be, that 11ns and 11gs do not mix good. For example, check CNET's D-Link Xtreme N test. On some Linksys router (not WRNT350N) throughput drops to half it there are both 11n and 11g clients. So if you use the Powerbooks alone, they should be twice as fast as they are are now.

i have tried the powerbooks alone...as i had to send the macbook pro to the shop the other day.

still have the same problem......but the speed is not an issue to me, its the disconnection and then failure to rejoin network. no settings change...sometimes it works....sometimes it doesnt.....makes no sense

i have not changed the ip address settings...so i assume this is at the default settings. What should the IP settings be?

Check a firmware upgrade for the router. Maybe it is an internal issue solved by the upgrade.

If possible, try to get your hands on a second router and check if the problem statys. if not, the router is bad, otherwise the router has issues with the macs.

Good luck, Kees
