Linksys Wireless Gateway WAG160N

Our old but reliable router died about 6 weeks ago and was replaced with a new Cisco Linksys Wireless Gateway WAG160N and we have nothing but trouble since. I had no part in the choosing of this particular one so I can't say why it was chosen. In the household we have two MacBooks running OS-X Leopard - and one recent Dell laptop running MS XP. We also have a new printer which could work wireless and did on the old router but it has problems with the network too! We keep being disconnected from the network in an apparently random manner - the two Macs more so than the MS system though it too has the problem. We simply turn Airport off and then back on again but it is getting really tedious and we do lose connections to our universities and then have to log in all over again! It can happen about every five minutes for an hour or not at all for five hours! We aren't all thrown off at once - though it's more common for the two Macs to be thrown off than a Mac & MS. Currently we are having to resort to using an ethernet cable to ensure connectivity and use a USB to connect to the wireless printer which rather defeats the point of a wireless gateway! We are using a channel none of the networks around us are using. Can anyone suggest a way that we can restore our household to full wireless mode without these frequent disconnections - or even a recommendation for a replacement. The network administrator is extremely capable but we've tried everything and he doesn't use a Mac so I'm resorting to the collective wisdom of the forum.

I know it's probably not a lot of help, but the WAG160N that I set up a few months ago for some friends, was working fine wired to a PC and running two black MacBooks via wi-fi. Still is OK as far as I know (they would have phoned for advice if it wasn't!). So, unless the equipment is faulty, you may have some problem with the settings.

Have you downloaded the latest firmware for the unit? There was at least one upgrade I put on it.
