Had SnowLeopard latest incarnation.

Have downloaded the Lion and it starts up fine.
Most of the menu bar (WiFi, keyboard (using Fr. CDN), Time Machine, Date/Time gone.

Cannot connect to the internet.
States that the ethernet cable is not connected. It is.
Have unplugged cable at both ends and have plugged it into a different port.
No result though it is able to connect to the App store to reinstall from the Reinstall feature of Lion.

Have tried going into Preferences to Network.
Originally Preferences freezes when trying to open Network.
Finally reopened when I restarted the computer 5 times.
Got it open and it freezes when I try to go any further.
Have tried restarting five times to no avail.

Have repaired permissions.
Have stopped all other applications that load when start-up.
Default Folder, Flip4Mac, Language Dictionary log in component
iTunes Handler

Still cannot get beyond the problems mentioned.

Am trying to reinstall Lion.

Any suggestions would be helpful and much appreciated.
This is the first time that I have had this kind of problem installing a MAC OS operating system. I have not seen this problem mentioned elsewhere but figure I am not alone.

Thank you.

Got the answer from another source after a few tries. Needed to start in Safe Mode, reload entirely, then restart.

All is now working.
