Localization...I hate it!!!!

So I live in HK, and have set my iMac to HK during user setup when I wiped my drive clean.

On the mac side....things arent terrible:
In firefox, If i type in a search in the google toolbar...it brings me to the HK google search result page. And everything is in Chinese. That's about as bad as it gets...but some other pages cause problems to.

On the PC side (booting on XP partition):
Again I use firefox, and EVERYTHING loads in the local HK version of the site. So if I go to www.skype.com...it will force auto-redirect me to www.skype.com/int/zh-han/ (or something like that) This happens with nearly every site...and i cant even bookmark or type in the english site...cause it will just force push me to the local site.

I have searched everywhere to change my settings for firefox...but cant not find any results...any ideas?

Erh... That's definitely a Windows problem, then. I don't think the "Mac OS X System & Mac Software" forum is the right place for this...

wellits more a firefox problem i think...cause it does it on both mac and windows sides..

also safari does it on some pages...

so i am wondering maybe i can just change my location on my mac account...but i dont know how to do that without reinstalling os x...which im not doing

Dunno if this will address your problem, but in System Preferences/International/Formats you can select your Region.

Try this in Firefox:

1, Open up about:config
2, Search for general.useragent.locale
3, Change its value to "en" or maybe "en-HK". (I am 100% sure that "en" exists, you might like to try "en-HK" to see if it exists.)

If that works then we can see how we might to that in Safari.
