Long link from PB to projector?

I've got a Wallstreet PowerBook G3 250 with a built-in S video output. I use a little adapter that was included with the PB that gets it (I think) to a VGA connection, then I need a little PC monitor adapter to make things work between a ViewSonic projector. This projector has VGA and the other kind of connector (with colored audio R / L and video plugs).

My question is, how can I run a PowerPoint presentation from the back of the room? I found a 100 foot VGA / SVGA monitor cable from Belkin, but it's a more than what I want to spend at $300.

If USB had any range, I could just run a keyboard and a mouse back there from my PCMCIA USB adapter, but I've heard USB has a limit to it's effective length.

Another alternative I've heard about is converting the video signal into an ethernet box and simply use an ethernet cable to hook up the projector and my laptop.

Any ideas?
