Looking for an iTunes alternative that supports .flac

Hello,

Although I've been using a mac professionally for years, I'm a recent convert for home use. iTunes is a great app for organizing your MP3 library, but I'm looking for CD ripper and music library application that supports pretty much every audio format out there (.flac, .ape, .ogg, etc etc), well....at least the good ones! I'm most concerned about my .flac library, which is the format i rip my cds to. Is there a 3rd party plug-in for iTunes that supports .flac? Any suggestions?

I've never tried it myself, since I have no flac files on hand, but I think that you'll be able to play flac and ogg files in iTunes if you install the Xiph QuickTime Components.

AWESOME....very nice...Anybody know of a plug-in that will allow you to rip a CD, and choose between LAME or the iTunes encoder??

oh yeah, my set-up; 15.4' Macbook Pro 2.16 gHz w/ 2 gig ram and 23' Apple LCD for home use.

iTunes-LAME Encoder helps bridge the gap between iTunes and LAME, but I'm not entirely sure it would work on Intel-based Macs. If not, I guess you'll need to use something that's not connected to iTunes, like Max.
