looking for *great* photo-management software

Hey,
I had been using iPhoto, but I'm fed up with how slow and un-organizeable it is, and with how lame the editing capability is...particularly after seeing Picasa on my mom's PC. Sad.
Anyhow, I was thinking of getting Photoshop Elements, but it's $100 and I was hoping to find something a little more reasonable (maybe not picasa-cheap, but cheaper!).

Wow, that looks great, but (a) I think the beta build will expire end of June, and (b) I'm not up for spending as much as the finished product would cost (I'm thinking at *least* $250). On the upside, I'd be able to contribute to exactly what I wanted it to do!
