I have issues, OK!
I'm having problems with iTunes. Some of the songs are becoming a corrupted somehow. PArt way through playing them, the song will just stop and the hard disk starts to make some very worrying noises, like it's trying to read / write something pretty intensively, only worse!
I have a real mixture of track encodings, everything from iTunes version 1 right through to the more recent AAC / m4a.
Normally, I would just replace them with a new rip from the original cd's, but if I do that, I loose all of the data that I've built up associated with those tracks.
I've spend a _lot_ of time adding comma-separated comments to about 50% of my tracks so that I can create custom play lists based on comment title; exciting, moody, sexy et cetera.
So, the question is, is there a way of swapping an album out with a new encoding and keeping all of the custom track / album data?
This really ought to be built into iTunes, and I've let Apple know this. Given that they either change and / or add another encoding type to iTunes with every big point update, they really should have some kind of import tool to do just this...
