Lost contacts in address book OS-X 10.4

From a disk crash I have lost my address book contacts. I have files that I think are the v-cards (from a backup) but address book does not think they are valid v-cards and will not import them.

Can you help?

billeby-- do you have time machine? if so open it and go back to a date before problem began-find your address book at that date - select it and click on restore- it will come back up to present desktop and restore it. good luck i think this will work.
