Lost HD Icon while allowing permissions

Ok here goes the issue, I have 3 separate users on my Mac pro OSX 10.4.11 each assigned individual passwords, I am the administrator...I Have 2 internal hard drives one with osx and application files and the other for saving files onto. While attempting to allow certain permissions to the second HD The icon dissapeared from desktop on all accounts as well as vanished from the finder panel. It shows on my disk utility application, I have no clue on how to restore my mac back to the way it was and have both my HD icons back on my desktop. I tried everything That I can find so far...any ideas folks????
 
Without knowing exactly what you did to the permissions. My suggestion off the cuff is to go into netinfo manager in the utilities folder. Enable root from there. Log into root account and fix the permissions so the other users can access the drive. When you are done, log back into your account and check to make sure the drive is accessible. Then make sure you go back into netinfo manager and disable root again.
