LPD Print problem. HELP!

I have been using Netgear's WGPS606 printserver for a while now with my PCs and it works great. However, I cannot set it up with my Mac. The printer is an HP F300 and my OS is 10.3.9. Netgear's website provided instructions for installing printers with 10.4.2--but warned that this would not work for previous versions. I tried it anyway, but they were right. As a new Mac user I really need some help with this!

Did you enter the queue name L1 in the queue name space in the Add dialog?

What driver are you using? a CUPS driver is required to use the OS X standard network protocols - like LPD. So far, to my knowledge, HP doesn't provide CUPS drivers for any of its non-postscript printers. Their driver is designed to only allow USB, direct-connect printing. I guess that Deskjet is fairly new? I don't see it in any of the third-party CUPS driver sets I know of:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1537

Good luck.

Yes, I used L1 for the queue name. The driver is my problem, I have not been able to find a driver that works. If I plug the printer into the usb the HP provided software works wonderfuly. Is there any way to use this driver (this works for PCs)?

Oh, now I understand what you are saying. So let me change my question...Since there dosn't seem to be a driver that supports the protocol that I want to use, what should I do?

PS-if anyone else knows where I might find the driver I need, by all means please let me know!

Let's try a generic driver (not generic postscript) - When you Add the printer, try using the HP Deskjet 900 Series, Gimp-Print driver that came with OS X.

I have tried that driver as well as most of the other Deskjet Series drivers included with OS X. Most of them (including the HP Deskjet 900 Series) reach the printer, but then 'E' flashes on the printer along with all of it's lights and it must be restarted.

I have tried many of the different printers in the hpijs driver (most of them AIO) to no avail. I am starting to think that I may just have to wait until a driver is written for my specific printer. Thanks for the help gsahli & misterme--if you or anyone else have some other ideas, I am all ears!

Wow, it is amazing how the answer to your own question can be right in front of you, yet you still don't see it! Yes, I got my printer to work if I had read more closley the linuxprinting.org instructions, I would have realized that I downloaded and installed nearly every printer driver except for the one I needed. Which, by the way, was avalible for download all by itself. Thanks to all for help!

Here is the download if anyone else has my problem:
