I'm not sure if you can help since this is a website for mac osx but I thought I would try. I'm trying to upgrade my macos 9.1 so I downloaded a program of the apple site to upgrade to a os 9.2. However I'm hopeless with computers and could not seem to open the file to install. I now can't even find where the computer downloaded the file. Need help...step by step in installing a missing file. I thought I found it however computer said cannot open cause it is in a invisiable file. What does that even mean? Thank you for your time.

First things first....find out from your browser preferences where your downloaded files are going. You can change this destination if you like. Personally I have a folder on my desktop which I named 'Internet Downloads' and told my browser (FireFox) to download files there. So if you can't find the file you downloaded from Apple then download it again. Or maybe you can try the 'Software Update' option. Can't remember where it is on OS9 though..! Try under the 'Apple Menu' > 'Control Panel'

wow, 1.4g is way faster!
i'm of the same thought as mr.loop. run the software update found in the control panel folder. it will update your mac to the latest version of os 9 that your mac can support. remember that no pre-g3 mac will support higher than 9.1 without some patching.
