I have no clue who to turn to on this, so I am hoping that someone here can help me. I have a golden triangle setup. Mac use AD to auth and log in. Clients are both PC and Mac. I have a Windows 2003 server and OSX Server 10.5. I have a share that is pinned to the dock on the macs and in that share is a folder that is basically a drop folder. Students can go and drop a file in, but after that can not modify it, overwrite it or delete it. On the PC's this works perfectly. However, on the Macs it realizes that they dont have read writes to the file. It asks about copying the file and clicking continue will copy the file to it, however at the same time, it modifies the files permissions and includes the specific student (I am using security groups now for access)as having modify and read access (you can see this in one of the pictures on the right hand side). Now, if I try to open it back up on the mac it says that it is not alowed, but now the PC has full rights to the specific file. Also, if I try to overwrite the file on the share using the mac, it will erase the contents of the file but the file itself will still exist.
I am trying to prevent it from adding the specific user to the permissions and also prevent it from overwriting the contents of the files. I am almost sure all of my settings are correct in the permissions...attached are screen shots. Please any help would be great.
