mac classic won't open

Hi all

I have two mac problems that I don't know how to fix.

I'm running Jaguar, if that's significant.

Here's the problems: For or some reason, whenever I try to open mac classic, it won't open - it just stalls and nothing happens. Also, whenever I try to check for updates with software updates, the process is cut off because of an unspecified error. Sooooo... now I can't run classic OR check for software updates. I don't know if the two problems are related or not, but I don't know what to do about either one.

As for Classic issue:
go to Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilites > Disk Utility
1.) Control+Click on "Macintosh HD" in Disk Utility
2.) Select "Repair Classic Permissions"

After that is done push the regular "Repair Disk Permissions" button. Get back to us on your results.
