Mac G4 crash

i was wondering if maybe anyone would know what the problem would be with my computer, it's a mac g4. i had os 9 on it up until a few years ago. when i first started building terrain to sell, there weren't any internet providers that would work with my computer for internet because of the old operating system. i needed OS 10 or newer to use internet, so my parents went out and bought me the newest OS there was at the time. i read through the instructions and all the new stuff on this new program before installing it and when it installed there wasn't anything going on that the instructions said would. reading the book sounded like there would be several step by step type things until you click the final button to install. instead of that i put the disc in and it automatically installed itself without me doing anything. i wasn't able to take the old operating system off, so i don't know if it actually got deleted or not. OS 10 has an archive program that will bring up an old operating system so you can have 9 and 10 on your computer at the same time and switch back and forth from what OS you want to use. on my computer i can find a OS 9 folder, but i can't bring up the operating system??
that's not the biggest problem though. the real pain in the ass is it constantly crashes since installing OS 10. i think the longest i went on that computer without it freezing up after OS 10 was about 12 minutes. if you work on the computer for an hour, you'll be restarting the computer atleast 6 -8 times. i don't have much in the way of programs on it any more either. i had three art programs and diable 2 (cool game!) but those don't work with the new OS so there not on there, don't think it's a memory problem with not much of anything there to take it up.!?
i would really appreciate any advice on how the solve the crashing problem.

Need more information . . . and paragraph breaks. My eyes hurt. Of course I also have a cold. In the rain.

Goeth thou to the :) sign in your tool bar, click it to bring up "About this Mac."

Click that.

Take your time.

Not trying to rush you or anything.

Post what you see:

This will help sort things out.

THEN post exactly what sort of disk this is your parents bought you--what is on it, what color, et cetera.
