mac mail

currently working on a mac g5 running 10.4.11

my mail suddenly stopped working, timing out and asking for the password over and over again and now won't open at all. The in and sent boxes were also empty, although some of my other boxes still had items.

not sure what to do now to get it back... I would like to try and keep my in and sent mail if possible, but it's not essential.

Knowledge of the fact that you are having a problem is not sufficient information to help you diagnose or fix your problem.

Your problem is symptomatic of an offline email server. That's just a guess. There may any number of other causes. Absent any information about your provider, a guess is all you get.
