Mac Mini (Intel) Settings for Plasma TV

I am looking for assistance or software in configuring my Mac Mini to utilize all of the screen Real Estate and / or resolution of my Samsung 50 inch plasma TV. I am connecting with a DVI to HDMI cable. Overscan cuts off the desktop while the default setting leaves several inches of black around the desktop. I am simply trying to fill the screen.

Which is the native resolution of that TV set? You should definitely choose _that_ as the resolution on your Mac - without overscan. Then there shouldn't be any black margins. That's theory, of course. I'm also interested in whether this simply works - or not.

(It _does_ work fine for my 800*600 video beamer with a simple analogue VGA connection, so I would be kinda negatively surprised if it didn't for more modern, digital connections.)

The TV will tell you what the proper setting is. I assume that your display's native pixel density is 1366 x 768 or WXGA. I have a Sharp Aquos with the same resolution. When connected via its DVI port, it is fixed at 1280 x 720. My guess is that yours is the same.
