mac mini -> powerbook

Although Im sure not many have the new mini does anyone have any idea as to whether it could be hooked up to a powerbook to be used as a screen? Sounds unlikely to me but someone asked me today and I couldnt think of an answer ( havent had too much of a look at the specs)

At the least you could control the mini mac over ethernet using VNC or Apple Remote Desktop - though in my experience the screen lag makes it a bit awkward for full use of the headless machine.
 
Did you mean that the Mac mini would use the powerbook screen? If so then this is not possible. But you can remotely steer your Mac mini over your powerbook. Remotely steer means that you can see the entire screen on your powerbook and work as if you are working on your Mac mini with a loss in performance of your graphical output (which will go through the network -> bottleneck).
 
The Powerbook's don't have a video-in port. So you won't be able to user the Powerbook as a screen for the Mac mini or anything else, for that matter.
 
What you can do however is install a VNC server on the Mac mini (I recommend OSXVNC) and a VNC client on the PowerBook (I use Chicken of the VNC) and that will achieve exactly what you want. There are lots of VNC programs to try, not to mention Apple Remote Desktop as well.
 
You are correct in your first assertion. Not many of us have a Mac mini yet — because they aren't shipping yet. ;)

BTW... I love that name, Chicken of the VNC. Brings Jessica Simpson to mind... ;)
 
On the same LAN, VNC will work very well. Some lag, but not very much. Out over the internet, there is a lot of lag with VNC. ARD and TimBukTu work much better for that.

You would initially need a keyboard, mouse and monitor to setup the mini.
